FIR against MLA Kala Rai
GANGTOK, :
A case has been registered against Upper Burtuk MLA Kala Rai and others for the
alleged unlawful demolition of a temporary structure and criminal intimidation
near the New STNM Hospital in Sochaygang, police said on Wednesday.
The
case was registered at Sadar Police Station under relevant sections of the
Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following a court order issued by Civil Judge,
Gangtok in the matter of Soman Pintso Bhutia vs State of Sikkim.
According
to the complaint filed by Sonam Pintso Bhutia (57), a resident of Ranka, he had
been operating a temporary shed bedside his shop opposite the hospital for the
past 15 years under a valid trade license issued in his wife’s name.
Bhutia
alleged that despite an ongoing dispute regarding the encroachment with no
final demolition order, a group of individuals allegedly led by the MLA
demolished the structure on April 8.
The
complainant further alleged that the accused, accompanied by supporters and
local labourers, forcibly entered the premises, created chaos, used abusive and
intimidating language, and destroyed the shed and stored property, causing
significant financial loss.
Bhutia
added that the entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed on the
hospital premises.
Police
said a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
