LUCKNOW: Suspecting his wife of having an affair, a man allegedly beheaded her while she was asleep at their rented house in Hardoi’s Islamnagar Tiliya locality early Wednesday, police said.The accused, identified as Parvez (34), was arrested after he reportedly walked into a police station and surrendered.The victim, Nagma (28), had been married to Parvez for nearly 12 years. According to police, the couple’s relationship had been strained for several months, with Parvez allegedly suspecting his wife of being in contact with another man on the phone. Frequent arguments reportedly took place over the issue.Investigators said Nagma was sleeping when Parvez allegedly attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon. Police said he repeatedly assaulted her before severing her head.The couple had been living in a rented house for the past one-and-a-half months after Parvez sold his ancestral property.Nagma’s sister, Sabbo, claimed that she had been subjected to prolonged physical abuse and threats by her husband. She alleged that Parvez had repeatedly threatened to slit Nagma’s throat in the days leading up to the murder. The family also alleged that some of Parvez’s relatives were present in the house when the crime took place.Nagma’s mother, Zahida, alleged that her daughter had faced repeated harassment and intimidation from her husband and in-laws.Police have sent the body for postmortem and launched an investigation. Officers are questioning Parvez, examining the family’s allegations, and attempting to recover the weapon allegedly used in the crime.
